Ogetsu Hime

Ogetsu Hime

Continuing the Japanese cuisine saga, we’ve managed to hunt down yet another restaurant for sushi and sashimi lovers alike. Ogetsu Hime which translates to “Goddess of Food” has landed at our dear SM Megamall Fashion Hall. It’s one of those restaurants you pass by and you immediately save it for your next visit (because you already have a lunch date some place else).

The friendly staff was all smiles when I got to the door. I was immediately seated and given the menu. And it was drool worthy. There were too many good choices that I had to go for the Chirashi Bowl to try everything all at once. And when it arrived, WOW! Full, rich, and generous were the words I have thought of. Large cuts and delicious looking presentation won me over. They really didn’t look like discarded cuts at all. They all looked like choice cuts that will pass if you server them as sashimi! I seriously had to put some sashimi on another plate to try and get to the bottom of the bowl. That other plate was of course Uni Tempura, because duh, UNI! I can’t get enough of uni. This was a little on the so-so side, but I guess it’s really hard to wrap uni with a nori sheet and dip in tempura batter and have it hold its shape while cooking. They’re local uni, not bafun, but it did the trick to satisfy my appetite.

Verdict: 3.75/5
The Chirashi Bowl alone would make me want to come back to this restaurant. I liked how fresh the sashimi selections were. There might be other good dishes to try out so maybe next time.
