Café Voi La

Here’s the part2 of the family’s trip to Tagaytay. We get to the breakfast place my sisters chose: Café Voi La. Contrary to popular belief, it’s not pronounced as “vwä-lä”, yes, we asked the server, and he said it’s pronounced as is, “voy-lä” (yes, I had to do that little fyi there haha!). The restaurant is located along Tagaytay-Calamba road. If you’re coming from Sta Rosa road, take a left and follow the road past the Our Lady of Manaoag and go past the Picnic Grove for 2 more kilometers and then you’ll get to the place. You won’t miss it, there’s a wind mill at the intersection which gives way to a few restaurants.
We were seated right away and given the menu (this is where we asked the server how to say the restaurant name). They were still serving breakfast meals so there weren’t a lot of choices. 3 of us ordered the Garlic Beef Tapa. The plate came with 2 eggs and a cup of garlic rice. I’d say the beef was so-so, lacked the tapa flavor you so long for, which was weird because this is the south. I thought they were good making stuff like this. One of my sisters had the Pancake and Bacon, because she said she was not really hungry. But when the plate came, it was the largest serving on the table haha! They put additional apple slices on the side, too, which I thought was a nice touch. Presentation was nice too, it was served on a chopping board hehe. Another ordered the Grilled Cheese Sandwich and 2mins of eating it, she said I make better grilled cheese sandwich. I just shrugged and said, of course. And the mom ordered the Fettucine Al-Pesto because she didn’t want to get rice hehe. I think it lacked taste. As for me, of course I make the best Eggs Benedict, so yeah, naturally I ordered that. LOL just to compare. And ugh. Their hollandaise sauce?! It’s not hollandaise sauce, I mean, they put melted cheese on top! -_- Preposterous! Good thing the poached egg was great, oozing yolk, definitely not overcooked. Their Salted Caramel Cheesecake was nice! Everyone liked it.
Verdict: 1.5/5
Pity that they should receive this low rating from me, their customer service was excellent! And the restaurant was really nice, homey even. They had that nice corner where people can do pictorials, my parents and sisters even had a shot form there (so .5 for that ok?). But please don’t fool your customers by passing off poorly executed food. The price was a little expensive, too. There’s just so much your excellent customer service needs to cover. I’d recommend the cake, but just that, and have it to go.
