Jollibee

Jollibee

one of the perks of moving to california is easier access to filipino restaurants. i rarely go to jollibee back home except for the times i take out my nieces and nephews out. kids usually prefer jollibee over mc donalds because jollibee offers the filipino

I Love Sushi

I Love Sushi

after work, i felt like treating myself to some japanese food. i’ve been looking forward to trying out this place specifically for its name. the place is small and had around 10 tables. the waiter/owner took awhile to entertain me. i ordered a dinner bento

Kyoto Palace

Kyoto Palace

this place is expensive. the prices of the menu they were displaying outside the restaurant were outdated. i ordered chicken teriyaki bento. it came with onion and mushroom soup. i was a little disappointed they did not serve miso soup. the bento also came with gyoza, fried mashed potato and salad. the salad did not come with the usual japanese sauce or mayonnaise. i surprisingly liked the gyoza. the fried mashed potato was very good. it was crispy and not mushy. the chicken teriyaki was average.

Sweet Mango

Sweet Mango

it was accidental that i ate at this restaurant since i had a hard time finding parking space close to an organic mexican restaurant i wanted to try out. this restaurant has a mix of burmese and chinese cuisine. i ordered their chicken curry lunch

The Last Honest Pizza

The Last Honest Pizza

driving by pizza restaurants everyday reminds me of my craving for pizza. my first attempt to satisfy this craving was getting a frozen di giorno four cheese thin crust pizza from the supermarket. the taste was below average so i had another excuse to try

Super Buffet

Super Buffet

i filled my first plate with salmon, tuna, white fish sashimi, mix of maki rolls, ebi sushi, and seaweeds wrapped in tamago wrap. my first plate started well.

my second plate was filled with clams with salted beans that lacked seasoning, fried shrimp that was not crunchy but mushy, pork and shrimp dumpling and shrimp siomai that tasted so bland.
i filled my third plate with sauteed oyster with black beans which was poorly seasoned, stuffed mushroom and stuffed crabmeat that tasted awful. it was so saggy and i couldn’t even describe its taste.
the only good thing i had in this buffet is the chocolate and vanilla icecream.
i was surprised at the bill when i paid. it was almost $15 for the horrible experience i had! i’m definitely not coming back here.

Kona Grill is one of our favorite Friday lunchout place. It tops in the number of times we eat here because of their lunch specials or what Kona calls as perfect pairings where one could pick two dishes from a list of delicious choices. Perfect

White Sox

White Sox

i had my first time watching a live baseball White Sox game last Saturday. the crowd was fun. some men who looked almost drunk were cheering loudly and dancing under the heat of the sun. the team lost that day but I enjoyed the whole experience. i would not forget to mention eating bobak’s bratwurst and nachos while watching the game.

Gene and Georgetti

Gene and Georgetti

i’ve already eaten at a number of steakhouses in chicago; chophouse, fugo’s and morton’s to name a few of them. together with my friends, we tried one of chicago’s landmark steakhouse: “gene and georgetti.” the free bread and breadsticks were unremarkable. they were hard and

Joy Yee’s Noodles

Joy Yee’s Noodles

we celebrated valentine’s day by feasting at “joy yee’s noodles.” it’s a pan-asian cuisine. it serves korean, thai and chinese food. we did not order noodles there though. we ordered the soft-shell crab, korean barbeque spareribs and shrimp with walnuts. the soft-shell crab is very good and the korean spareribs is consistenly good everytime we order it. Their shrimp with walnuts is comparably the same with the other restos in chinatown but still good. joy yee is also known for its wide range of unforgettable fruit shakes and tapiocas.
